甲壳虫乐队(The Beatles)，又被人们称为披头士乐队，一个英格兰的摇滚乐队，成名于20世纪60年代初。并且在成名之初就迅速的风靡了全球，开创了独具特色的、并对以后的摇滚文化产生巨大影响的音乐风格。他们的经历是具有传奇色彩的，他们的产生造就了一个时代！

在50年代英国兴起并盛行的摇滚乐，若干年后在大西洋彼岸产生了巨大的回响。50年代以来，在英国利物浦成立了以4 名男青年为成员的摇滚乐队——“甲壳虫”乐队。这4 位成员都出身于利物浦市的工人家庭：约翰·列侬（John Lennon)，吉它手，担任节奏演奏(兼奏口琴，风琴和钢琴)；保罗·麦卡特尼（Paul McCartney），低声部（兼奏钢琴，风琴和吉它)；乔治·哈利逊（Ge-orge Harrison)，首席吉它；林弋·斯达（Ringo Star）鼓手。“甲壳虫”乐队在外形上温文尔雅，稍带点缀的不修边幅与未脱稚气，很具亲和力，他们象征着早期“嬉皮”运动中反主流的美妙的理想主义，他们用自己特有的“甜歌”反映着对于爱情、和平、冥想诸如此类的思考，是“乌托邦”式幻想的缔造者。

1962年10月，由列侬与麦卡特尼创作的歌曲《请爱我》在英国发行，不久在流行音乐排行榜上名列第21名。1963年5 月，乐队的唱片《请让我高兴点》发行后连续30个星期在排行榜上保持第1 名。接着乐队的另一张唱片《与“甲壳虫”乐队在一起》又连续22个星期占据着第一名的宝座。1964年2月，由美国“开底托”唱片公司出版发行的歌曲《我想握握你的手》在排行榜上达到第一名。不久，“甲壳虫”乐队出现在美国电视台的名为“艾德·萨利文”的文艺节目中。“甲壳虫”热开始冲击整个美国，尤其强烈震撼着青年一代的心灵。1967年2月,“甲壳虫”乐队在英国发行《永远的草莓地》，其模糊不清的背景音乐，将人引入飘飘欲仙的境地。6 月，乐队一张击败所有其他一流演唱组，所谓使人引起幻觉的唱片《佩珀军士的孤独心灵俱乐部乐队》发行.1970年4 月，麦卡特尼宣布离开乐队。5月,“甲壳虫”乐队（其实不复存在）出版《请放宽心》以表示破镜重圆。同年12月，麦卡特尼提出解散“甲壳虫”乐队，以后乐队成员各自转向了个人的事业。

美国60年代著名歌星鲍勃·迪伦曾这样评论：“他们正做着从没人问津的事。他们的和弦超越常规，完全超越常规，而和声却如此动人心弦……大家都认为他们的歌曲是给学颓废派那一套的青少年听的，因此只是昙花一现。但我很清楚，他们的艺术有一种持久力量。我知道他们指出了音乐发展的必然方向。”

“甲壳虫”乐队是摇滚乐史上迄今最著名的乐队，尽管乐队如今已不复存在。而且更令人悲伤的是，乐队的创始人约翰·列侬 于1980年12月在纽约遇刺身亡。但是，它给后人产生了深远的影响，而且许许多多的歌曲今天已成为了流行乐中的经典作品。
