　　任何时候，都需要一张沙发，一杯咖啡，一把木吉他或一本书。更需要的是陪伴在我身边的女友，和她给我的一个K字。烦嚣的都市，脆弱的人，头文字K，不多不少看起来比较刚强，比较勇猛。
　　事情是这样再次发生的，2003年挪威的Bergen镇，当Erik Glambek Boe 放下“弗洛伊德”正准备去喝一口女友弄好的咖啡时，再次看见了那个熟悉的身影——头发蓬松，带着一副大眼镜眶的Erlend Oye坐在窗外的露台弹吉他，于是他带上了吉他和咖啡走了出去……
　　3年前Kings of Convenience处女唱片《Quiet Is the New Loud》在偏向电音的SOURCE厂牌推出时，无端被电友、小资和乐评怂恿后买下听过后的心情，那些自认有品味又不喜欢老土民歌的舆论“New Acoustic Movement”是最合适不过的。而在SOURCE的推进下，结集多位电子乐人合作CROSSOVER的Versus无疑是我们最想听的潮乐(独立电子潮流音乐)，Kings of Convenience并没有因为这点振动而继续投入五光十色的演艺生涯，而是各自各精彩，找寻生活的态度。低调的Erik攻读心理学的学位，沉醉于书本、咖啡和象棋之中；好动的Erlend带着自己的唱盘游走十几个城市，在那些不知名的俱乐部连同不知名的音乐人炮制自己梦寐以求的上世纪80年代迪斯科之声，相继推出《Unrest》以及《DJ Kicks》两张唱片。
　　说回2003年的那个暑假，当收拾性情的Erlend回到了那个熟悉的小镇，与Erik在露台再次弹起吉他唱起歌，用歌声讲述着不同的人不同的故事。他们的组成可谓最方便简单不过，两把吉他加上高低音和音互换，一套简单的录音器材，Kings of Convenience再次成为Erik和Erlend生活中表达自己的一部分。2004年推出了第二张正式的唱片《Riot On An Empty Street》，无论专辑的名称以及封面设计都和首张专辑互相对应。
　　没有高声的斥骂争斗，愤世嫉俗，强蛮的金属效果，只是轻轻地品味生活的酸甜苦辣。无论用什么来形容Kings of Convenience，最简单直接还是“好听”或者“叹”。在他们的音乐国度，世界一切美好，只剩烦恼……

　　乐队在1999年夏天组成，经过一年的磨合，推出处女同名专辑，没经过打磨的声音在独立唱片公司Kindercore发行，KOC的音乐触动了多间大型唱片公司敏感的听觉神经，为今后发展打开方便之门。

　　事实证明他们的明智选择，加入SOURCE唱片公司发行他们第一张正式的专辑《Quiet Is the New Loud》，专辑静静地表达着幽默婉约的Ballads钢琴式的吉他伴奏，动人的高低音互换响动了无数个睡房的夜晚。难怪当时有人将他们和Indie pop领军人物Belle and Sebastian相比较，专辑点题曲Winning a Battle, Losing the War 足够表达音乐人的心境和脱俗的生活态度。“I Don't Know What I Can Save You From”成为琅琅上口的音乐诗。大部分歌曲出自Erik之手，少而精的搞鬼Erlend作品也不甘示弱，Failure一曲为人津津乐道。没有过分刻意的修饰，做好音乐首先要有美好心灵。

　　在《Quiet Is the New Loud》被唱片业界誉为New Acoustic Movement最重要代表作品之一的同时，得到SOURCE唱片厂牌大力支持，Kings Of Convenience找来一众超豪华阵型的DJ及INDIE BAND，大玩友情客串：有Erlend经常客串参与的Royksopp，曾来过中国的Four Tet、Ladytron，多重身份的唱片骑师、TWISTED NERVE RECORD神经质厂牌老板及平面设计师Andy Votel及其厂牌乐低调独立乐队ALIFE等等，星光闪烁。经一众REMIX、LOFI、拆分又重新整合Quiet Is the New Loud里的作品后，电子音效遇上民谣，竟有异曲同工之效，叫好又叫座！简直就像是LV遇上村上隆。

　　3年的时间，一个承诺，各自去完成自己梦想，Erlend流浪十几个城市几大洲追寻梦中的80年代电子音乐和CLUB文化；Erik完成了心理学士学位，糅合不同的经历和际遇，写下不同的乐谱，继续简美的新民谣风格，同时加入管敲琴，吹奏乐器，弦乐，少量的鼓和轻音电吉他。专辑点题曲Homesick以外来打工仔心态触动思乡情感，华尔兹式的Misread轻轻地描述忘记不了的感情和永远的过去，Stay Out of Trouble、Love Is No Big Truth 、Sorry or please不多不少正是Erik感情的独白和无数人，或失恋或落寞的疗伤情歌，怪诞的Erlend在MV里身穿红色ADIDAS运动衣紧身白色窄裤高唱的“I'd Rather Dance With You”无疑是全碟最为手舞足蹈、乐极忘形提神之作，最值得细细品味的是Know-How和结尾曲The Build Up短短的女声部分，来自Indie /Post Rock乐队Broken Social Scene成员Leslie Feist，豁然开朗而又忧伤深邃， 再看看两张耐人寻味唱片的封面，是过去还是将来，快乐只因多愁善感，幸福停留在相片的现在和过去。
